About me

Hello there!

My name is Josefin Hilmarsson, but you can call me Jósi. I developed a passion for music early on in life, played several musical instruments during childhood and started taking vocal and performance lessons as a teenager. Growing up in Sweden, the birthplace of many internationally renowned musicians and songwriters, musical training was always easy to access and encouraged by my family and friends.

As a self taught guitarist in my teens, I naturally began to play around with chords and forming melodies of my own. Since the art of poetry and words had already been a huge part of my life, I soon put them into songs and started to busk and perform at local cafés and out on the streets of my home town. Besides performing solo, I've played in bands of various genres, as well as recording my music in a professional studio.

In 2021 I started my own business company as an online music instructor, quickly gaining students of all ages from across the Atlantic. 

Late in the autumn of 2025, my husband and I moved to Iceland. Like so many others, I find the stunning, somewhat mysterious nature of this island very inspiring for when I write.

With a background in theater, acting and musical performance, I will help you to truly get into your role as a musician, play with feeling and get a deeper understanding of the lyrical meaning in the songs you play and sing. Regardless of what instrument you want to play, I'll make sure you have a fun time learning while expanding your knowledge in music and perfecting your skills as a musician.
